Banachek

On our stage at:

2011

Banachek was born in England on 30 November 1960 and grew up between South Africa and the United States. The book that changed his life was James Randi's "The Truth About Uri Geller", which gave him the tools to build his own versions of metal bending. In the famous Project Alpha he convinced scientists at Washington University in St. Louis that he had psychic powers, before revealing that it had all been deception, earning him the title of "the man who fooled the scientists".

Since then he has exposed false paranormal claims, including his well documented exposure of the preacher Peter Popoff, and he has served as president of the James Randi Educational Foundation. A recipient of the Psychic Entertainers Creativity Award, he is a sought after consultant to Penn & Teller, Criss Angel and David Blaine, and Penn & Teller's famous "Magic Bullet" began as his creation. Penn has called his show the greatest mentalist act in the world, and his effects have entered the repertoire of countless mentalists.

Banachek was a guest of the Masters of Magic Convention in 2011.
