Ernesto Planas

On our stage at:

2013 United Magicians for the World 2020 2021 2022 FISM European Championship 2024

Ernesto Planas is regarded as the best-known and most decorated Cuban illusionist in history. He created a strikingly innovative technique for umbrella manipulation, and his act, full of energy, charisma and stage presence, is considered unique in the world. Fittingly, "Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde", in its special edition of 31 December 2013, named it one of the 20 finest acts in the programme's history.

A three-time finalist at the World Championships of Magic, he won the Stage Grand Prix and second prize in close-up at the Ibero-American convention in Mexico City in 1988. His awards also include the Arsenio Trophy in 2009, the Alberto Sitta Trophy in 2010, two Merlin Awards (2010 and 2014), prizes in both stage and close-up in Abano Terme, and the award for best umbrella act in Shenzhen in 2012.

He is a much-loved face of the Masters of Magic Convention: on stage in 2013, 2021 and 2022, in the online charity show United Magicians for the World in 2020 and at the FISM European Championship of Magic in Saint-Vincent in 2024.
