On our stage at:

United Magicians for the World 2020 2021

Richard Hatch holds two graduate degrees in Physics from Yale University, yet apparently finds it easier to violate the laws of nature than to discover them. A childhood interest in magic became a lifelong obsession after he met, and was encouraged by, the German magician Fredo Raxon in 1970. A full-time professional "deceptionist" since 1983, he honed his craft as one of the house magicians at Houston's Magic Island Nightclub before devoting himself to private and corporate events around the world.

In the magic world he is known for his German-to-English translations of the first four volumes of Roberto Giobbi's Card College and of books on Paul Potassy and Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser, on whose life and repertoire he has lectured in Chicago, London, Boston, Madrid and Costa Rica. His research on the mysterious S. W. Erdnase was featured in a front-page story in the Wall Street Journal. He has translated Günther Dammann's 1933 book "Die Juden in der Zauberkunst" into English, Dammann being a young Jewish scholar of magic who died in the Holocaust, and led an effort to rename a street in Berlin after him.

He was our guest at United Magicians for the World in 2020, where he presented his research on Erdnase, and at the Masters of Magic Convention 2021.
