Axel Hecklau

On our stage at:

United Magicians for the World 2020 2021 2023

Axel Hecklau is one of the great names of German magic, instantly recognisable by the handlebar moustache that has been his signature since 1986. He began in grand illusion with his partner Dirk Krause, winning the German junior title in 1983 and second prize at FISM in The Hague in 1988. In 2001 he created his character Wilhelm Beetz, and in 2002 his first full evening show, "Wunderbar".

In 2017 he became German Champion and European FISM Champion in Parlour Magic, and in 2018 FISM Vice World Champion in Busan, making him a two time FISM vice world champion. He is known for creative improvements on classics such as his torn and restored newspaper, "Newsflash", and his "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" video has passed 1.5 million views. He has lectured across Europe, the United States, Canada and Asia, performed at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and for years has run his own weekly "Salon of Wonder" in Berlin.

He was our guest at United Magicians for the World in 2020 and at the Masters of Magic Convention in 2021 and 2023.
