Ding Yang

FISM European Championship 2024

Ding Yang has revolutionized dove magic, a genre that for over a century belonged to elegant gentlemen in tailcoats and top hats. At the 2022 FISM World Championship of Magic, representing China, she won two awards, including the Most Creative Act Award, for an act that overturned every expectation.

On stage she wears a sleek black velvet jumpsuit and performs on a platform stripped of traditional magical props: a costume and a space that seem to hide nothing, yet from apparent nothingness graceful white doves emerge. She won gold at the International Brotherhood of Magicians competition and the Golden Chrysanthemum Award, the top magic competition in China; in 2023 she received the Canadian Magic Association International Rising Star Award and a Mandrake in Paris. David Copperfield wrote to her that seeing her magic framed in such a unique way would inspire others to move magic in new directions.

She was our guest at the FISM European Championship of Magic in Saint-Vincent 2024, in the Grand Gala Show.
