Since the 1970s Uri Geller has been a worldwide phenomenon unlike anything the world of mystery had seen before. Born in Tel Aviv, he appeared on television screens across Europe, America and Asia bending spoons, stopping watches and reproducing hidden drawings, and asked audiences a question that made him famous and debated at the same time: what if it were real? Entire countries watched their cutlery after his broadcasts.

Over the decades Geller has remained a global celebrity, filling theatres and studios, writing books, collecting friendships with stars and statesmen, and feeding a public discussion about the limits of the mind that has never really stopped. Whatever position one takes in that debate, his impact is beyond question: he brought the language of the impossible into mainstream culture and made millions of people talk about mental powers at the dinner table.

Masters of Magic honoured him with the Golden Grolla in 2012, recognising a figure who, for half a century, has kept the whole world staring at a bent spoon and wondering.
