Javier Botía
On our stage at:
2019 United Magicians for the World 2020
Javier Botía won first prize in mentalism at the FISM World Championship in Korea in 2018, with an innovative, irreverent style that combines the most advanced techniques of mental magic with sharp comedy: comic mentalism was born. Where the traditional mentalist is often grave and solemn, Javier shows that you can make people laugh and at the same time convince them the effect is real.
Behind him lies a long media career: he started on Spanish radio at Los 40 Principales, became a leading voice in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay too, and won the Tabaré 98 award. He has hosted shows on major television networks in those countries and directed and starred in "Ídolos de barro", a documentary that won 11 international awards. Magic arrived in 2001, when he was a guest at the Almussafes international festival: his friend and mentor Professor Rochy taught him mentalism, which Javier blended with a decade of stand-up comedy. In 2016 he won first prize in mentalism at the national congress in Granada and the overall first prize at Almussafes, the first mentalist ever to do so in the congress's history.
He was a guest of the 2019 Masters of Magic Convention and of the United Magicians for the World online charity shows in 2020.
