Raffaele de Ritis

On our stage at:

2014 FISM Italy 2015 2019

Raffaele De Ritis is one of the world's best known creators and historians of the circus arts, described by the New York Times as being at the new edge of new wave circus directors. Across three decades of work he has built a modern theatrical vision around ancient spectacular traditions such as circus, magic and cabaret, writing and directing shows for Cirque du Soleil, Disney, Dragone, Feld Entertainment, Big Apple Circus and Broadway, as well as drama and opera.

In magic he directed the "Monte Carlo Magic Stars" festival, staged touring shows for Raul Cremona and Silvan, and worked creatively with Arturo Brachetti as associate director. He was the first curator of Rai 3's magic and circus TV series, with hundreds of episodes. A recognised historian, he has published in seven languages and lectured at academic institutions worldwide; he is the author of "Illusionismi", the most influential Italian book on the history of magic, and sits on the Performing Arts Council of Italy's Ministry of Culture.

He was our guest at the Masters of Magic Convention in 2014 and 2019 and at the FISM World Championship of Magic in Rimini in 2015.
