Lu Chen

The superstar who enchanted half a billion viewers

Lu Chen, born in Taiwan, is one of the greatest magic superstars Asia has ever produced. He fell in love with magic as a child in his family's shop, won his first competitions as a teenager and grew into a performer whose gentle manner and impeccable close-up technique made him a television idol first in Taiwan and then across the whole Chinese-speaking world.

His appearances at the CCTV New Year Gala in China, the most watched television programme on Earth with audiences measured in hundreds of millions, turned him into a household name overnight and set off a genuine magic boom: magic sets sold out, clubs filled with new students, and an entire generation in Asia discovered the art through his face. Few magicians in history have brought magic to so many people in a single evening.

Masters of Magic welcomed Lu Chen to Saint-Vincent and honoured him with the Golden Grolla in 2013, celebrating the performer who proved that elegant close-up magic could enchant the largest audience in the world.

Honoured by Masters of Magic among the legends who have shaped the history of magic.
