Luis De Matos

The gentleman of European magic

Luis de Matos is one of the most respected magicians in Europe and the face of magic in Portugal. His television series made him a star in his home country, with shows that combined grand illusion, close-up and a warm, elegant presence that won over family audiences for years. International juries and organisations have repeatedly recognised him among the finest magicians of his generation.

Alongside his career as a performer, de Matos became one of the great builders of the magic community. From his production centre in Portugal he created the Essential Magic Conference, which connected thousands of magicians from all over the world online, and the Essential Magic Collection, preserving and publishing the knowledge of the greatest masters. His studios, his events and his impeccable productions have set a standard of quality the whole community looks up to.

Masters of Magic honoured him with the Golden Grolla in 2013, celebrating the complete artist: star on stage, ambassador of elegance and builder of bridges for magic across the world.

Honoured by Masters of Magic among the legends who have shaped the history of magic.
