Luis Piedrahita

Spain's wittiest close-up magician

Writer, comedian, film director and magician, Luis Piedrahita is one of the most beloved faces of Spanish television and a close-up performer of rare finesse. For years his magic segments on "El Hormiguero", one of the most watched shows in Spain, brought elegant and intelligent close-up magic to millions of viewers, proving night after night that a card trick can be as sharp as the best comic monologue.

His style is unmistakable: an apparently innocent curiosity about everyday objects, a surgeon's technique hidden under jokes, and a poet's eye for the small absurdities of life, the same eye that guides his books and his stand-up comedy. As a screenwriter and director he co-wrote and co-directed acclaimed films, and in the magic world he is respected as an author of refined original material, presented at the great international conventions.

Masters of Magic honoured him with the Golden Grolla in 2019, in Saint-Vincent, celebrating the artist who serves wonder and laughter in the same gesture.

Honoured by Masters of Magic among the legends who have shaped the history of magic.
