Yu Hojin

The poet of manipulation

In 2012, at the FISM World Championship of Magic in Blackpool, a young South Korean manipulator won the Grand Prix, the highest honour in competitive magic, with an act that left the audience in silence before the applause. On a bare stage, Yu Hojin told the story of a lonely dreamer through cards that appeared like falling snow, dissolved into fans and returned as images of memory: manipulation not as a display of skill but as pure poetry, performed without a single word.

Since that night he has been considered the finest manipulator of his generation. He has toured the biggest galas and television shows across Asia, Europe and America, reached huge audiences through international talent shows, and inspired countless young manipulators who study the softness of his technique and the emotional architecture of his acts. In his hands the oldest discipline of stage magic became modern again.

Masters of Magic honoured him with the Golden Grolla in 2023, during the Masters of Magic World Tour, welcoming among the legends the artist who turned falling cards into falling snow.

Honoured by Masters of Magic among the legends who have shaped the history of magic.
