Jason Latimer

The scientist of wonder

In 2003 Jason Latimer won the Grand Prix at FISM, the world championship of magic, with an act that seemed to arrive from the future: cups and balls performed with completely transparent cups, and light itself bent and sculpted as if it were a solid object. The magic community understood immediately that it was watching something new, an artist who refused the traditional hiding places and made impossibility visible in full view.

Latimer then took an unusual road for a world champion: he put his art at the service of science. Convinced that wonder is the first step of discovery, he became a science communicator, curator and television host, creating projects and programmes, like "Wizard Wars" and his work with science centres in the United States, where magic is used to spark curiosity and show that the right question can change what seems possible.

Masters of Magic honoured him with the Golden Grolla in 2018, celebrating the champion who turned magic into a language for teaching the world how to wonder.

Honoured by Masters of Magic among the legends who have shaped the history of magic.
